Blue false indigo is a perfect plant - beautiful and tough. With a strong taproot to carry it through the winter,  it emerges in the spring with small flowers and further unfolds through the season as the plant grows in height and spectacular flowering. Plants are somewhat tolerant to drought, deer and rabbits.
