Aster cordifolius

Aster cordifolius

$8.00Price
Aster cordifolius is a growing favorite in our area due to its tolerance of drought and shade, and its general unpalatability to deer and rabbits. It spreads slowly from underground rhizomes and can self-seed. It blooms from late summer and to mid-fall. As the name indicates, it evolved in wooded areas. It can get a little messy with the occasional odd branch - nothing 1 minute with some pruners cannot fix. Small price to pay to have natives growing under our beautiful hardwood trees.Plants host caterpillars of the Silvery Checkerspot Butterfly, Pearl Crescent Butterfly and several species of moths. Interesting Notes:For more information on this plant, visit the USDA PLANTS Database: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=SYCO4
